Dr. Gary Oliver, Ph.D. - Chairman of the Board

Gary J. Oliver is a university and seminary professor, psychologist, author, Executive Director of the Center for Relationship Enrichment and Professor of Psychology and Practical Theology at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

He received his B.A. from Biola University, M.Div. from Talbot Theological Seminary, a Th.M. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He has earned the Certified Family Life Educator (C.F.L.E.) diploma by The National Council on Family Relations.

Dr. Oliver has over 30 years of experience in individual, premarital, marital and family counseling and for the past 20 years he has had an extensive nationwide teaching ministry with groups like Promise Keepers and The American Association of Christian Counselors. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Oliver has over ten years of experience serving on the staff of churches in California, Nebraska and Colorado. He is also a Professor in the D. Min. in Marriage and Family Counseling Program at Denver Seminary.

Dr. Oliver has authored or co-authored over 20 books including two books with his late wife, Carrie – Mad About Us: Moving from Anger to Intimacy With Your Spouse published by Bethany House and Raising Sons…and Loving It! published by Zondervan. He is also the author of over 150 articles in national magazines and journals, is a regular contributing columnist for HomeLife magazine.

Dr. Oliver travels both nationally and internationally providing seminars and workshops on a variety of topics including marriage enrichment, parenting, brief therapy, and emotional intelligence. He resides in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

 

Sharon Hart May, Ph.D. - Director

Dr. Sharon Hart May specializes in one of the most highly effective couple’s and family therapy models called Emotionally Focused Therapy. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Director of the Haven of Safety Relationships Center. Sharon has integrated Christian principles with the neurobiology of attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Sharon is known as a relationship expert and has a heart for helping people heal, grow and nurture their most important relationships. She helps people make sense of their relationships so to foster close and secure relationships with their creator and their loved ones. Wherever there are relationships (dating, marriage, family, workplace, churches, mission-field), Sharon aims to help foster understanding, healing and connectedness.

Sharon is well known for her highly effective ‘Safe Haven Marriage Intensives’ where couples come from all over the world for a 2-to-3 day marriage-changing process. The Safe Haven Group Marriage Intensives are a powerful 1 or 2 day experience for a group of 4 couples. With follow-up sessions, this model has proven to be a very effective for bringing about lasting change in couples. Sharon’s popular book is, Safe Haven Marriage: Building a relationship you want to come home to. Her latest book is titled, How to Argue So Your Spouse Will Listen.

Sharon is an effective and captivating speaker. She is humorous, motivating and informative. She integrates the cutting edge research regarding relationships, psychology and counseling with the spiritual aspect of life.

Sharon is married to Mike May and together they have 4 sons: Matthew, Vincent, Alan and Mitchell. Mike and Sharon travel together and when home, live in Arcadia, California.

 

Jeff Reinke - Founder

Jeff is the Marriage and Family Pastor at North Coast Calvary Chapel and Founder for the Foundation for Marriage and Relationship Enrichment.  He has served on the NCCC staff for 15 years.   San Diego has been his home for nearly 30 years.  His passion for healthy marriages and families has been the catalyst for the formation FMRE.

Jeff was a two-sport scholar athlete and graduate from USC. He received a BS in Political Science and has two post graduate degrees- MA in Education and Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Previous to working at NCCC, he was the Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in San Diego County and a schoolteacher for nine years at Santa Fe Christian High School.

Jeff and Robin just celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary in September. Robin is a Marriage and Family Therapist and serves with Jeff in strengthening marriages at North Coast Calvary Chapel.  They have two children; Joy who is 15 years old and John Luke who is 13 years old.
